More Green!

I went camping about a week ago. Wanna see my setup?
Air mattresses, radio, and filet mignon. Yeah, we rough it.
I've been going here almost every year with my dad since elementary school. We usually go during the winter to avoid the bugs, but this summer weather turned out perfect.
FIRE! Flint and magnesium for this one. Matches are for losers.

^Decided to join is for dinner.^

After filling up the fire bucket in a nearby stream, we found a couple of these little guys swimming around inside. Freshwater trout I think? We threw them back in so they can grow up big and strong and feed the bears.

It's the prettiest stump in the whole forest. Caught it munching on a rock.

This is one of the best parts of our camping trips. After walking a quick trail (in complete darkness, of course), we reached an overlook with a beautiful view of the valley town below. In the picture above, you can see the glow from the town, a glaring full moon (that's the moon, not the sun), and the light trails of cars driving in the distance. And if you look very closely at the far left sky, you might make out the blinking signal of an orbiting satellite.

Disney World!

I went for a week with the family. Lots of family. I think we had nineteen at one point. Here's what I swiped:

I took a lot of the castle because it's always pretty colors.
And it's good practice for long exposures.
 ^Freehand!^

They have an interesting menu at the castle...

No dancing.(for your safety)

 Everyone knows the Epcot ball.
 Now with learning!
 And French cottages?

Squirrels. Don't forget squirrels.

This is the airport in Orlando. They have creepy hotel balconies inside with overgrown plants.
I can see a zombie movie being filmed here.

Here's what earth looks like from the window of a Southwest airplane window...

...and here's the luggage that they forgot to put on that plane.

And I have no idea who this person is.

Blueberries Equals Muffins

Went to a farm to pick blueberries yesterday.
 A baby blueberry.

 ...aaaaand now THEY'RE MUFFINS!

I was like "Done registering for classes time to bake muffins." and my mom was all "it's 9:45PM" and I was like "Don't care, making muffins." and she was all "But we just ran out of flour!" so I went to Harris Teeter and bought some flour and muffins were made.

That's right I made these.

Farm Road Shenanigans

We went exploring at the farm behind Clyde's.

 I think that's a groundhog.
Never expected to see these on a barn.

D.C. Shenanigans

So I went downtown to the National Mall with the family in an attempt to see Steve Martin play the banjo. We decided to go to the rehearsal  Independence Day concert on the third to avoid the tourists. We got through the security scanners and found the last good spot in front of the stage. But nature had other plans...

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued and the entire audience was ushered into an underground garage by friendly Police megaphones. Just as we got inside, the rain started picking up and we could see branches falling off nearby trees.
They decided it would be best to close the garage doors because this place was packed tight and the people by the entrance were getting soaked.
After about an hour and a free performance by the concert's also-trapped vocal group, the storm died down and the doors were opened. An ambulance was there as a precaution(nobody needed it), and there was lots of free bottled water all over the mall.

The Capitol Police assessed the damage.

Fallen branches littered the ground and a whole tree even fell down on the Capitol's lawn, right on top of a seating area.

The screening tent was destroyed and power was lost for the mags, so the admins decided to cancel the concert and opt for a closed rehearsal instead.

At least I got some pictures out of the whole ordeal.
